Create Your Dream Closet

Do you think Carrie Bradshaw, Lauren Conrad, or Coco Chanel would be proud when walking into your closet? Let’s be real, probably not. So now you ask yourself, how can I step up my closet game? Well, let’s turn it into a fashion icon’s paradise.

Since you’re the type of girl who cares about what her closet looks like, I’m assuming you want girly, glitz glamour. You want it to look chic. We can accomplish that.

First, we can start with the size of the room. Steal that extra bedroom that is just filled with clutter. Be honest with yourself. You have an unnecessary amount of clothes. You need all that room.

In order to achieve the stylish look we’re all hoping for, paint it white! Paint the walls, the ceiling, and the hardwood floor all white. If you aren’t a fan of hardwood floors, put in wall-to-wall plush carpeting. Fix up that plain door! If you don’t have room to put in French doors (because that is extremely stylish), just exchange your single door for a glass or vintage door. Both are stylish and will complete the basic look you are going for.

Shoe Selection

Are your shoes cute enough to put on display? Use floating shelves all lined up on the wall from top to bottom. Color-coordinate them! Make it look like a collection!

Mirror

You will want a tri-fold mirror with a platform, because in our minds, everything looks better when on a platform and you can see multiple angles. It’s okay if you don’t have room for that though! Just add a glamour mirror on the wall surround by shelves holding up your favorite fashion magazines and items.

Charm

All that’s left is to add your own personal charm. We suggest extra items such as a classic French chair, a vintage coat rack, vintage suitcases, couture shopping bags, a fur rug, a center island, and a chandelier.

You’ve finished! You should be living your dream! Just keep it clean and chic, and feel free to share with us your exciting new reveals!

When Fashion and Design Intertwine

Fashion trends are translating into interior décor in a fabulous way. It used to be that trend forecasting involved analytical study and discussions of where and how trends originated. Now, the methods in which designers of fashion and interiors collide are in the same world. More often than not, we see fashion trends translating into interior décor!

Couture, architecture, music, and interiors are all related to each other in structure, purpose, and value. For example, a beautiful song needs to be made into a video. What’s needed to make it happen? A building (architecture), people (Couture Fashion), and designed rooms (interiors). It’s the same when designing your home. The next opportunity you get to design a space in your home, turn on your favorite song and write down what you love about it. For example, does the song make you want to dance? Are there words that make you think about something beautiful? Then, pull pages from magazines and highlight what caught your eye. Was it the color of the room, the flow, a piece of furniture, etc? Look at architecture also, and once you have all the components needed, you can turn your space into something that will make you happy for a long time.

Designers of both fashion and interiors go to great lengths to bring you the trends of right now, but the best thing to do when you’re one to keep up with the trends is to have classic timeless pieces for the bones of your room, for example the sofa, chair, tables. Then, you can change trends with your accessories. Locally, one of the best places we know to go is Home Goods. It’s affordable enough for you to purchase spring/ summer, winter/fall looks for your home without breaking the bank and be right on with the trends!

Remember, not to take fashion trends literal and make your space look exactly like something you see on TV or in a magazine. Take time to find your style and spend money on timeless pieces that you love and can live with for a long time, and make sure you have fun bringing in trends with color through pillows and accessories!!
