A very easy way to go from cute to creepy is just to use candles. Don't bother turning on the lights and just fill every room with many candles. Go crazy by adding both black and white candles, and if you can find the ones that have red wax (like blood) dripping down the side, use those too! Get creative with them by placing them in clear antique vases or in wire bird cages, really anything that adds to the spooky Halloween effect.

Spider Webs

Cover everything with webs! Go nuts. Here's an extra little tip: one bag of spider webs from Michael's or your local craft store will go a much longer way than you would've ever thought. Spider webs are a huge key when trying to achieve that haunted look. Spread it over antique picture frames and black and cream pumpkins.

Wine Bottles

Wine bottles are key when it comes to adding that creative flair to your Halloween decorations. Collect bottles of all shapes and sizes (doesn't have to necessarily be wine bottles) and spray paint them matte black. Use cut up pieces of a brown paper black to write the what the "evil" contents are and glue the pieces onto the bottles. Voila! You have your own set of potion bottles. If you want to take it one step further, buy a book from your local thrift store and give it a spells and potions book cover.

Tablescapes

When it comes to the Halloween party tablescape, you have to think of a couple different areas on the table: the centerpiece and the personal set up. The centerpiece should be a cluster of spooky items such as a skull, black lace, spider webs, potion books, a clear vase with black flowers, etc. Try and think elegant with an eerie presence.

When setting the table, try to stick to silver and black plates. Feel free to do them all one color or alternate black and silver. Use antique drinking glasses and silverware. This will add in that chillingly creepy look. If you can stick with hauntingly beautiful decor pieces, it will create a strange and almost supernatural effect.
