Spooky, yet Stylish
We understand that most parents may be a little worried about how they'll keep their little ones preoccupied this season. Normally, it is the perfect time to go outdoors more in the cool weather, dress up for trick-or-treating, and share goodies with others. While some of that may be limited now, we compiled some crafty activities that will keep everyone in the Spooky spirit! These are great for sharing scrumptious recipes at home and sneakily making the kids create some great decorations for your home this season. ;)
Spooky yet Stylish Decor
There are so many ways you can decorate for the season without having to sacrifice your aesthetic! Here are some amazing ideas on low-budget, yet large impact ways to perfectly decorate your place. Some professional designer tips: keep the decorations similar in color, meaning if you plan on sticking to orange tones, avoid neon greens and dark purples. Don't scatter your decor, focus on two to three focal points throughout the main living spots to up the impact and keep everything looking organized. If you want to stay low-budget, have your kids make lots of tissue ghosts and paint jack-o-lantern acorns! Group the small crafts to elevate their effect. Invest in some fake cobwebs and black candles to add a dramatic effect for any tablescape.
Never underestimate the impact of simplicity! Especially if you're determined to decorate within your existing minimalist home theme, you need to focus on this rule. A quirky throw pillow with a quote and uniformly stacked pumpkins can do the job in a beach house or modern farmhouse style. For our boho-lovers, grab some new pots in the shapes skulls, pumpkins, and other Halloween related shapes as an easy and reversible project. Think about incorporating some nontraditional colors that could pass with Halloween, too. This could be a burnt orange chunky throw blanket, an olive green/black/burlap garland, or hot pink and gold painted pumpkins.
Fun Things To-Do
If you are unable to go trick-or-treating, make sure you plan some nighttime activities so the kiddies don't give staying at home a second thought! This Glow Necklace Ring Toss is perfect for that, and you can even switch up the platform to witch hats,so take your pick! Create a tournament schedule with these games to get the family more competitive and have more fun! Another classic idea to do is the Mummy Wrap! Use up some of the toilet paper you probably stocked up on between COVID and hurricane season to good use! In case you aren't familiar with the game, it's when one person holds the end of a paper roll and the another teammate wraps them while trying to not break the roll.
Snack Ideas
Try your hand out in a low-risk charcuterie board filled with candy, cookies, and pretzels! This is filled with bright colors and different textures, so it will look great on your table. When you take the party outside to enjoy the cool weather, have a s'mores edition board! Grab some chocolate covered wafers, sugar cookies, and chocolate cookies to play up the traditional s'mores ingredients for a special treat.
As healthier option, these spooky kabobs are the perfect mix between tasty and nutritious. Some small hard candies pressed into the marshmallow will make the face, just make sure you don't eat too many parts before the finished result! The mozzarella sticks and marinara sauce will be more filling and easier to plan, too; a perfect small edition to the Halloween feast you're putting on.
