How To Turn Your Home Into An Updated Beach Bungalow
Being from Florida, we see many beach houses through the years, and many of them look exactly the same with the same beach decor. They tend to strive for a “Hamptons” look where mostly everything is white, and sometimes, it looks nice while others it doesn’t. Either way, they all look the same. People are afraid to try to incorporate typical beach colors in their beach decor, because it can look cheesy. We want to lead you to thinking about an elegant and relaxing beach home that includes stylish beach decor. Colors and all.

When it comes to colors, we mentioned typical beach colors. We’re talking about blue, green, sand, and white. That doesn’t mean add in coral! Why some people do this is still in question. Just pay attention to the colors of the coast and let them lead you to your décor.

When you are picking your furniture, especially for the “hangout” spots, think about shapes, forms, and textures that remind you of the beach. This goes for the beach décor as well, not just the furniture. It doesn’t even have to be items from a store. Create décor by placing what you find on the beach in apothecary jars. Instant beach décor!

Fade-proof fabrics for curtains

These will immediately become your home’s best friend and your pocket’s savior. Not only are these fabrics still beautiful, but also if your home gets a lot of sunlight, this will save you from buying new curtains all the time.
Add Prints

Yes, we want to keep it soothing and calm, but add subtle prints. This means you can use a soft pattern accent rug or accent chair or both! You can mix it up and boost up your home’s visual interest. Just make sure you read our mixing patterns how-to for extra tips and tricks.
Bold Backsplash

Kitchens can look very beautiful but also very bland being white, tan, or even using blue pastels. Granted, the ocean view is probably the highlight of your home, but why can’t your backsplash be too?
Wooden Towel Rack

Seeing towels hung over the end of doors and thrown about waiting to dry can really ruin a stylish look of the home. Instead, use a reclaimed-wood ladder to hang the towels on. It adds a little rustic flare but also keeps things tidy.
Super-Size Your Dining Table
Source
With a beach house, you are probably the host of many dinners! Maximize your dining room capacity by super sizing your table. This also gives you the opportunity to create a larger centerpiece using your extra beach décor.
Hopefully this has helped you find a balance between beachy and elegance and has shown you how to successfully turn your home into an updated beach bungalow!
