Materials are an essential factor and are crucial in how your final design will look and its longevity. This could include a variety of possible materials that you don't necessarily need to purchase. However, there are a few things to consider when considering which process you want to partake in. Here we go….
Are They Budget-Friendly?
Materials and items in your home can be repurposed, saving time and cost! Your home may already have good bones; There is always a way to enhance it. A material can be elevated in various ways such as paint, wood stain, and other techniques. Most furniture, floors, and cabinets have character, so why not add more to it without taking away its initial charm?!
Materials such as floors and other woods do increase a budget depending on the type of wood. Despite that, most woods will be less expensive than natural stone and with proper maintenance, can last for years, even decades. Wood is also easy to work with and modify if necessary. However, natural stones are typically more expensive but need the least amount of maintenance and upkeep—specifically, marble and quartz. Investing in products that last can only benefit and retain the value of a home considering they are composed of materials that don't require constant maintenance. Depending on the budget, it is recommended to invest in the things that will last the longest and have the biggest return.
Are They Durable?
Materials such as wood and stone last the longest and need little to some upkeep. Wood floors can withstand quite a bit, vinyl wood floors can endure more than regular hardwood floors. Its durability and resilience are always recognized and highly recommended to most homeowners.
Among other natural materials, stone is also the most durable and can endure a great deal. Specifically, quartz needs no maintenance and is one of the most recommended highly tolerant stones. As for marble, durability is offered but needs upkeep every few years to maintain its longevity. Ultimately, the stone you choose to incorporate into your home can make a great deal of a difference and has a favorable outcome for longevity.
Are They Going To Stay In Trend?
Trends tend to fluctuate but always seem to come full circle in the interior design world. Certain materials such as wood and natural stones have staying power as the years go by. The color and texture of natural wood and stones and the variations may change based on what is currently on trend. Despite that, organic materials tend to stay timeless. The modern world certainly does have its styles that are in high demand, and wood and stone are among the highly sought-after styles that always meet the design standards.
