Envisioning Your Dream Style

Creating a mood board for any project can be a fun and productive way to pass time. We love using these with clients to get a first initial feel of what look they are hoping to achieve. To learn more about their style, they make a Pinterest board and fill out a questionnaire we send them. This first process ensures that we are a good fit for their visions and can achieve what they want within a reasonable budget. So now you’d like to create a more cohesive theme for your house. Great! While we suggest getting a consultation meeting, we’ll teach you some of our preferred tricks and ways to create a definable mood board you can work off of!

First, you’ll need to download some of our favorite apps to make it. We suggest Pinterest, Instagram, and Canva. Pinterest and Instagram are great search engines for looking up photos tagged with your style. Try searching “minimalist boho house” or “transitional home design” on Pinterest to get a plethora of pins and boards all focusing on those. When it comes to creating a Pinterest board, it’s helpful to have one for each room you’re remodeling. Pin around 5-10 overall room designs you like to keep yourself from being overwhelmed. Breaking each board into more specific categories included in the room also helps maintain a unique take on the style you’re admiring. Try narrowing 3-5 favorite pins in: rugs, furniture options, pillows and sofas, and decor ideas. The more specific you can get, the easier for everyone!

Instagram is helpful when you’re trying to be a little more region specific, like “Orlando interior design” or “Florida beach homes.” This will come in handy if you’ve gotten to the point of sourcing furniture stores or interiors designers that identify with those styles, too. We make sure all of our Instagram posts have relevant hashtags attached to them. With over 600 posts, you can get a complete idea of what we’re capable of to service our clients.

Time for Canva! Not only is this an amazing app for graphic templates for any job, you can also easily create collages on here. (If you own an Apple computer, you can use Keynote presentations, too.) Use a blank presentation template and start uploading the photos that most impacted you. You can crop the photo and add filters to the photos if needed. Change the positioning to present the most important items on top or by layer they would sit in real life. Example: an area rug below a coffee table photo with a lamp on top. There is a lot you can do with the Canva free option, so don’t worry about needing premium. Some of our favorite tools on it are the positioning, transparency, and duplicate easy-to-use options. Continue to play around with this app until you learn more and are happy with the outcome!

This blog is also the prefect example of a furniture mood board! We went through the process of selecting farmhouse styles we love and then narrowed down on sourcing the pieces we’d use. Check it out here!

Based off a live Good Day Orlando segment that owner, Amber Clore, recently presented, this blog has some inspiration boards that we made using Apple’s Keynote. The tasty drink graphic at the end was made with Canva! Find all the inspo here!

Again we sourced some ideal items that would complete your Memorial day weekend party! We added numbers to organize the sourcing for the blog, too. You can incorporate this by adding a page on Canva and pasting the links of where you found your mood board items to really simplify the process! This blog features indoor and outdoor furniture and decor, so be sure to check it out!
