How To Redecorate Without Breaking the Bank

New Year, New Home! Today, we’re letting you know the best ways to redecorate your home on a low budget. People tend to think it costs so much to make a big impact, but little changes can make a large impact too! Let us show you how…

It’s commonly know that paint is the cheapest way to make a big impact. We could write this post without at least mentioning it! Make sure when you’re picking a new color it still has the same cool or warm tones to make sure it still flows and complements your existing furniture and decor.

Redecorate with different lighting! If you choose a lighting option with a different interior design style, it can completely change the vibe of the room. Remember to aim for the same sizing though. If the existing furniture works well with a small chandelier, it will probably look too crowded with a large one. If the furniture goes well with a large light fixture, there will probably be too much room between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the light if it’s too small. A medium-sized lighting option is typically a pretty solid bet when it comes to working well with the rest of the room.

Ceiling Design

Don’t forget about your “fifth wall” above you! Use your ceiling to get really creative and give your room a whole new look. You can paint it, add a pattern, add some paneling, or add wooden beams. It’s all up to you! To help you with deciding, we have a whole post about ceiling options here.

Go thrift shopping! You’d be shocked at the items you can find at thrift stores, it’s shocking! You might have to spend some time sifting through everything, but it’s well worth it. You can redecorate so easily with a bunch of new decor that all cost just a couple dollars.

If you need anymore ideas, feel free to ask in the comments below! Have fun forming each room into a new and refreshed space!

Kitchen Update for a Luminous Cooking Space

The kitchen is a still a gathering room even if it isn’t the primary one as we’re sure you’ve noticed. We always want the kitchen to look pristine, but our main goal is to keep it light, fresh, and airy. We have some tips and tricks on how to achieve this feeling in your kitchen…

Clean Up Your Sink

The sink can sometimes provide the room with odors that aren’t so pleasant and that we try to stay away from. There’s a trick to maintaining your drain to help with the smell. Try mixing 1/2 cup of baking soda with 1/4 cup of table salt and pour it down the drain. Immediately after, pour 1 cup of heated vinegar down the drain as well. Let the combination work its magic for about 15 minutes and then run hot water for about 30 seconds to rinse it out. This should effectively clean your drain and keep it from providing any odor in your kitchen.

Take In New Textiles

Switch out your old tablecloth with an easy, light new old. This is your kitchen table’s easiest change up causing a dramatic difference. Try and accompany your tablecloth with linen runners and placemats. Find some light, casual napkins to top of your new, fresh feel that makes your kitchen so much more welcoming.

De-Clutter Your Countertops

By cleaning off your counter tops, you can make your kitchen look so much more open and spacious. When it’s cluttered, you feel like it is too small and you can’t move around efficiently. Decluttering makes cooking so much easier. Try and find places for everything in cabinets and such instead of keeping so many canisters and appliances on the counter.

Kitchens Should Always Smell Good

Try to freshen up the air. Typically people just think to open the windows, which is great and will definitely help, but try using an essential oils diffuser. We have a Young Living Essential Oils diffuser here in the store! Come by and pick one up for yourself. You can try out so many different scents. These oils actually mask the unpleasant cooking smells and provide a soothing feeling as well! How can you not want them?…

Decorate With A Fruit Bowl

Using a fruit bowl as a decorative centerpiece immediately adds color and brightness to a kitchen. It’s a lively piece that is also healthy and tempting. This might be your key to making your family pick a healthy snack over junk food!

Grow Some Greens

Our last tip is to grow your own herbs. It brings a freshness into the kitchen that can’t be compared with anything else. You can use them in your cooking and they actually make the food taste fresher. They have multiple pros over cons because greenery also lightens every room!

Now, you can turn your kitchen into a light, breezy wonderland for cooking! We hope these tips and tricks help! Let us know if you have any other questions or want more tips.
