Lake Druid Remodel

Lake Druid Remodel

A deeper look into the details of this project

The heart of the home…

is the beautifully bright, open concept kitchen. There are so many elements that are exclusive and original, yet also practical. Let’s take a closer look at some of these features.

The water fall island…

is the focal point of the room. It has quartz countertops that combine with a contrasting butcher block waterfall accent. This is very unique and practical, because it can be used as a cutting board! Another eye-catching feature in this space is the backsplash. We went with a  gray and white toned linear glass and stone mixture, really making the kitchen sparkle.

The floating stove top…

is a one of a kind element that adds flare to this home. We worked with Pitt Cooking to make our vision come to life. The burners are placed on a heat resistant stone countertop, followed by another inserted piece of butcher block, more practicality!

The upstairs living area…

has a view like no other. These chairs face out to see the beautiful Florida lake that this home is on. Therefore, we kept the design simple here using wood tones, but of course had to add the pop of color to embrace our clients’ fondness of originality.

The bathrooms…

are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant, with curve-less, roll-in showers. The spaces are simplistic in style, while being extremely functional for the needs of our client. All the bathrooms have LED mirrors that are a wonderful addition to the space, enhancing the modern style. Of course, the black faucets and hardware complete this sleek design.

The exposed brick…

in the downstairs (technically the first floor) living room kitchen area was actually repurposed from the exterior of the home. We love being able to add bits and pieces of sentiment, making the design that much more special for our clients.

This space acts as a fully functioning second kitchen in the home featuring a hidden wine cellar.

The staircase…

is a gorgeous, elegant feature of this home. Fun fact: we relocated the staircase to the back of the house in order to get that view. We used natural wood, horizontal steel beams, and cable railing. The contrast of the wood and black embraces the theme of the rest of the home, tying everything together.

Transitioning to Fall Decor

Fall is almost upon us, and as we are transitioning into the new season we have some fast and simple ideas to help reshape your space. Among the many spaces in your home, some that are quite simple to decorate include the coffee table, living sofa, dining table, and mantle. Getting ready for the holidays seems to spark creativity and a need to fill all the nooks and crannies in your home adding a festive touch to the space.

On the coffee table, accessories like; faux pumpkins and acorns, as well as candles that smell like pumpkin pie or apple cider really fill the room with the feeling of fall. An arrangement of faux sunflowers and warm-toned leaves can make the perfect centerpiece for any table. Furthermore, your mantle is also an easy place to set some Autumn decor. It can be sprinkled with some leafy garland, twinkle lights, pine cones, cotton stems, or even some classic candles making the space feel cozy.

Whenever you are decorating you should always go back to that rule of thumb “less is more.” It’s also important to consider the types of accessories we choose for a space and the material they are made from. We recommend spending the extra dollar on a few good items rather than a bunch of pieces that don’t necessarily give that wow factor. Sometimes certain decorations can seem overused or tacky, but hopefully, with this inspiration, you can take away ideas on how to get your home ready for those upcoming holiday family gatherings.

Inspired by the warm tones of the season’s leaves, an assortment of throw pillows in the same colorway was chosen along with a throw blanket.

Let’s not forget that famous pumpkin pillow. We always need one of those!

Don’t feel pressured to stick to the typical orange, red, and yellow tones to style for fall. Layering neutrals such as whites, off-whites, and browns are just as beautiful and eye-catching.  Add a touch of greenery here and there and you’ll be set! Faux eucalyptus or sage are great choices for that.

This dining table setting steers away from the usual and is not covered in pumpkins like we tend to see quite often. Instead, it uses greenery as its focal point draped along the center of the table. Depth is added through a layering of neutrals with subtle shades of yellow, red, and green. Still expressing an autumn vibe without being so literal.

This striking mantle design showcases candles, faux flowers, greenery, wooden pumpkins, and fabric-wrapped pumpkins. This decor choice complements the minimalist design approach creating visual interest without being too overbearing. Something to think about here is the addition of the framed mirror. This is a great approach to consider in absence of a television or piece of artwork.

This simple décor shows visual symmetry without using the same type of object. Don’t be afraid to change things up on either side of a focal point, both asymmetry and symmetry are important in any space and can be represented through visual weight. Here a larger vase in glass on one side balances with a pairing of three smaller wooden candelabrums on the other.

The above image is also a great reminder for us to always design from floor to ceiling. Include all surfaces of your home even your floor!  A wicker basket with a pillow and throw blanket add a lived-in look that is inviting and cozy for the cooler weather to come. Fall is the perfect time to break out all those additions especially anything that is plaid patterned.

We hope you consider all these decor ideas and FALL into the season’s spirit!
