It took years of house hunting for our clients to find the perfect home to make their own after moving to Florida. When they finally found the perfect property to renovate, we were tasked with creating a modern and one-of-a-kind kitchen that reflected their unique personalities and minimalist aesthetic. We relocated the kitchen to take advantage of an expansive wall that would serve as the main workspace. We wanted to highlight the length of counter space and developed on a concept of integrating individual burners into the countertops, rather than a traditional drop-in cooktop. We were challenged with identifying the burners and configuration for this application, selecting the appropriate material to withstand the heat, and recruiting an installation team willing to engineer such a concept. Ultimately we settled on a quartz countertop accented with a butcher block inlay and waterfall edge. Our installation team was able to bring gas lines to the new cooktop location and seamlessly integrate the burners into the countertop. The floating gas burners are the star of this kitchen and serve as the perfect conversation piece in this modern lakefront retreat.
