Cozy Up Your Home For Fall

Besides thinking up creative Halloween costumes and cooking up some of our favorite fall foods, one of the best things about October is that you finally get to add cozy touches to your home. Your house should look different each season. In the spring and summer, it should feel bright, airy, and light. In the fall and winter, it should feel cozy, warm, and comfortable. The best part about changing up your décor is that it doesn’t take much effort at all. With just a few simple touches to each room, you’ll immediately feel ready for crunchy leaves and sweater weather! Today, we have a few simple steps to make your home feel cozier for the season.

For your family room: get a cozy throw blanket.

Most people have a nice fuzzy blanket on hand, so this is a change you can make without spending a dime. If you’re looking to spend a little on a fresh throw, opt for one that has a fall/winter feel to get you in the seasonal spirit.

For your dining room: change up your table scape.

SourceIn the summertime, it’s a good idea to place a row of succulents down the dining room table with seashells scattered around them. During the fall, change to a warmer color scheme, using natural décor like pinecones, colored leaves, and white mini pumpkins. You can also add apples, squash, cranberries, and candles into the mix for a very seasonal feel.

For your kitchen: treat yourself to fresh fall flowers.

SourceJust as some flowers seem perfect for the spring and summer months, other blooms are ideal for fall. Adding fresh flowers to your kitchen (or really any room in your house) will make it feel festive and fresh. Make sure you know which flowers are in season before buying a fall bouquet from your local farmer’s market.

For your living room: add candles to your fireplace.

SourceA blazing fire adds the best cozy feeling to a living room in the wintertime. But since we’re in fall, a time that is a little spookier, we suggest adding tons of candles to your fireplace for a warm, peaceful feel. When winter rolls around, you will be excited to change things up with a log fire!
