In with the New Year!

A little over a week ago, we put out a post called Welcome in the New Year that was all about “out with the old.” Well, you can’t start a saying and not finish it! Therefore, here is our second post in order to finish “in with the new!” Now that your homes are all clean and uncluttered, we can start moving in all the new fresh stuff and stock up for the year.

First, stock your fridge and pantry! You should’ve just cleared them out and thrown away all the older food (and any takeout boxes). Go to the grocery store and gather all the new foods you need. It is bad feng shui to have your pantry and fridge empty anyway!

Hang up a new calendar. Seriously, how much will a 2015 calendar help you? Take it down and replace it with a new one, or if you’re feeling crafty, make yourself a chalkboard calendar that you can change all the time.

Use citrus fruits as home décor. Creating a centerpiece with oranges and other types of citrus is thought to present the home as being abundant and “fruitful.” Yes, there is a pun there.

The last item that is essential in the home to welcome the New Year is a plant. Bring a new plant into the mix. In “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” Kate Hudson gets Matthew McConaughey a love fern to represent the beginning of their relationship together. Well, she was on to something. Plants do actually represent a healthy, new beginning. Welcome in any greenery looks best with your already existing design.

Let’s start off the New Year the right way! 2016 will be your year, so make it feel that way!
